2020 Lockdown Challenge – Day 3… Salford Day, Morecambe and Blackpool with Train Ride Home

Day 3 of my 10 day challenge proved to be best so far both in terms of route enjoyment and feeling fit! Proudly sporting Salford Kit 😉I had a lie in & left at same time as Mrs T went to work 😂😂 – well someone’s got to earn some money

Anyway my start heading North towards Morecambe was pretty devoid of hills (good job as my legs were definitely NOT in the mood for any sort of incline) so I made decent progress with a mix of A6 and some quieter lanes. I am a big fan of traffic free riding, even at the expense of speed & loss of tarmac! So today I did quite a stint on Preston’s wonderful Guild Wheel and took the cycleway from Glasson Dock to Lancaster and beyond to Morecambe!

It’s been a while since I visited Morecambe… cycling along the Prom was a delight, with wide paths and not very busy either, despite the wonderful weather! 😎I went on as far as Hest Bank where I picked up the Lancaster Canal towpath for a different route back in City Of Lancaster – the Lune Viaduct was very impressive

👍

I picked up the A6 at Galgate and with my leg muscles now feeling good and yearning a few hills I made good time down to Garstang before turning right to head for Blackpool (I was all to aware of black skies and evidence of rain in direction of Preston, not far ahead, so the plan to get a train home from Blackpool turned out to be genius!).

On arrival in Bolton on a nice new train (oh I do not miss those Pacer Trains I’ve spent many a journey being rattled around in) I found the roads were sodden, but luckily it had stopped raining & I only had about 4 miles to ride back home!!

I’m Looking forward to more new roads and trails tomorrow.

A Great day on Bike. I’m really enjoying the Challenge, despite my achy legs!!
